Our Cakes

Hi ya'll!!! I am some very exciting pictures to show you some pictures of my cake. I have been jumping for joy every since Saturday night about these pictures. We meet with our cake lady about a month ago and we designed our cakes (bride and grooms cake). When i went in to meet her I had an idea in my head of what i wanted my cake to look like and a couple of different pictures with just parts out of the picture i really loved. So When i explained it to her i was a little afraid that i did not get my point across of what i wanted my cake to look like and since she did not have any pictures of a cake like mine that she had done before i have been sweating about what it will look like. I mean i have been pretty nervous about this especially with our wedding being so far off.
I just kept telling myself that its just a cake and not to stress about it. Well over the weekend our cake lady did a cake just like mine for another girl and i was so excited to see how it turned out. This is my cake just without the flowers. I'm not sure what type of flowers i want to use but this pictures gives me a good idea of how every things will look. Sorry the picture quality is not so good and I know you cant really tell but, on the bottom layer there is a "M" and that will also be on my cake.
The chocolate cake is J's grooms cake but, it wont necessarily have the green flowers on it. J is a huge Alabama Football fan so he had to have a ALA cake for sure. I am thinking of doing some other Alabama stuff for J's cake. What did you include on your cake tables??

Changing your name

J and I had a conversion last night about changing my last name after i am married. I jokily told him that I thought he should change his last name LOL. His response was "are you not excited about taking on my name?" :( Yes i am excited about taking his name but i am also sad to be losing my name. I mean i have had this name for the past 25 years of my life and now it will be sad to let it go. I am going from a last name that is short, easy to say and goes really well with my first name and now i will have a long last name that really kind of sounds funny with my name. Don't get me wrong i am excited but sad too. Also, i did a little googling and found a ton of stuff you have to do to change your name. It just exhausting reading the list. Here's the list of to do's according to theknot.com
1. Get Proof Arm yourself with a certified marriage license

2. Set Social Security Straight. Contact the SS office and let them know of you name change.
3. Motor on Down to the DMV Visit the Department of Motor Vehicles, which requires you to make a personal appearance (read: wait in line). Bring a book to read and every form of identification you can lay your hands on. No matter what, do not forget your certified marriage license.

4. Fill in the Blanks Once you have a social security card and driver's license in your married name, other changes should be fairly easy. Some institutions only require a phone call; others may ask for a copy of your marriage certificate or social security card. Be sure to notify:
Friends and family
Employers/payroll
Post office
Phone company and other utilities
Banks and other financial institutions
Credit card companies
Schools and alumni associations
Voter registration
And don't forget to get your new name on these documents as well:
Passport (Do not do this before the wedding -- your passport name must match the name on your ticket and all other travel documents! It's easier to take your honeymoon with your maiden name.)
Mortgages and leases
Wills
Insurance policies
Magazine subscriptions

Ok now i am really stressing after reading this list. Looks like i will have a ton to do after the wedding to. How does everyone else feel about changing there name?

Look out here we come.

We picked our HONEYMOON SPOT!!!!! I am so excited about going. The final decision was (DRUM ROLL PLEASE)
We will be going to the Nassau, Bahamas!!!!! I cant wait to go. We are either going to go on a cruise or fly there. J has been to the Bahamas before on a cruise and he really wanted to go again. So I was pretty much convinced about going. I am just so glad we finally decided where we both wanted to go. We have not booked yet but hope to very soon. I just hope and pray that it all works out. Cant you see both of us soaking up the sand in the Bahamas? I am just not sure who we should go through to book our flights or cruise? Any suggestions??? So where will you be going on your honeymoon???

I love flip flops and i think i know a few pretty girls that will really enjoy these on my wedding day too. That why i will be visiting Old Navy on March 23 to pick some of these up and they are only $1.00 woo hoo. Thanks to Brides on a Budget for sharing!!!

I plan on buying me a pair in the turquoise to match my bathing suit.
We are going to Gulf Shores in a couple of weeks and boy I cant wait to go. I bought me a cute bathing suit that is a light turquoise so these little babies will match perfectly!

Save the Drama for your Mommy!

Happy Cinco de Mayo Everyone!
I know i have been a very bad blogger but, I have just had so much going on. Last night I went to my last class for the semester and took my final. Also, we have been closing the month at work and my dance class is getting ready for there Spring recital. So I have just been busy busy busy.
Actually my dance class will be doing a in school performance Wednesday and then there recital is Friday. Oh and i dread it!!!! I just don't think they are ready at all and we decided this year that we would just do the recital at the elementary school instead of renting out Bama theater like we've done in the past 10 years or so to save on money. Also, i have a big problem with the other dance teacher so we may have a little drama this afternoon during practice. I know save the drama for your mommy but, i just have some issues with how this lady treats our students and I feel its my right to let her know how i feel.
So my maid of honor who i have know since i was brought into the world sent me a text message letting me know that she would not be able to be in my wedding. I knew that it may be an issue when i asked her. She is going to get her Masters in Social Work and will have to go to school every Saturday for a year and since our wedding is on Saturday she wont be able to make it. I am understanding but, I'm not. It hurt my feelings that she did not call me and tell me instead of sending me a text message.
Now, I'm not sure what to do, I still need another bridesmaid or a Maid of Honor. I have a few suggestions but just don't know what to do. I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings or ask someone that i am not that close to. So what do you think i should do?

How do i love thee Vintage Gown.

So I did a little cleaning up on my computer and found some old pictures from research to find the perfect dress. I thought it was be pretty neat to check out what some vintage wedding gowns looked like. So I thought i would give you a little entertainment and may be a little laugh.
First up is the 1950's wedding dresses. Check out Audrey Hepburn. I think this dress is just so vintage and cute. Look how small the girls waist was WOW!! The picture on the right is of Grace Kelly at her royal wedding in Monaco in 1956.
Next we have the 1960's . This dress reminds me so much of my mother's wedding dress. Just think lots of tulle veils, and lace everywhere. I have three words for the 1960's Peace, love, Freedom!
Then we have the 1970's . Check out those sleeves on the wedding gowns.
Then we have 1980's. I wonder if my FI would go for the blue suite????
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and thanks for traveling through the blast from the past.
